According to European Truth, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen made this statement before the start of an informal meeting of EU leaders in Copenhagen on 1 October.

Denmark considers the European Commission's proposal to provide Ukraine with a ‘reparations loan’ from frozen russian assets to be a good way forward.

‘Our main task is to discuss security and deterrence issues in the field of defence, in particular drones and assistance to Ukraine... Europe needs to do more, particularly in terms of financing, and I believe that the Commission's idea is actually a very good way forward,’ Frederiksen said.

She added that ‘of course, there are some legal issues that will have to be considered.’

‘I am confident that we will find a solution. But the idea of using frozen assets is, in my opinion, a good idea,’ the Danish prime minister stressed.

According to her, Europe should ‘view the war in Ukraine not as a war in one European country, Ukraine, but as a russian attempt to threaten all of us.‘
