The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia has asked relevant agencies to check the ties between the management structures of leading Latvian companies and russia, belarus or other countries that support aggression against Ukraine.
The Ministry proposes to check whether there are citizens of russia, belarus or other third countries in the management structures of key Latvian companies and organizations who "directly or indirectly support russian aggression against Ukraine or may be associated with russian state institutions, as well as whether they have ties to them."
"In case such persons are identified and linked to the aggression of the putin regime, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will propose to apply restrictive measures of the European Union to them," the Latvian Foreign Ministry added.
The head of the ministry, Krisjanis Karinsh, called the initiative a continuation of the work aimed at identifying and preventing "citizens of russia or other third countries associated with the putin regime and its aggression against Ukraine" from staying in Latvia.
"This work is ongoing, and to this end, we have asked the relevant ministries to assess whether third-country nationals who support the putin regime and its aggression against Ukraine hold high positions in important Latvian companies," he added.
