Since 2022, four EU countries have spent more on purchasing russian LNG than on supporting Ukraine

This is stated in a report by Greenpeace.
According to Eurostat, these countries accounted for 95% of russian LNG imports to the EU, spending €34.3 billion on them. The Kiel Institute's Ukraine Support Tracker shows that during the same period, their bilateral assistance to Ukraine (humanitarian, military and financial) amounted to €21.2 billion.
According to the report, taxes received from Yamal LNG, from which countries import gas, amount to approximately $9.5 billion.
This could be enough to purchase the following for the russian army:
9.5 million 152-mm artillery shells;
271,000 Shahed drones;
2,686 T-90M tanks.
According to Greenpeace, although pipeline gas has almost disappeared, LNG imports from russia have not only remained stable but have even increased — in 2024, they were 11% higher than in 2023.
At the same time, gas arriving in France, Spain and Belgium is partially redirected to other countries, where it is already considered French or Belgian, rather than russian. Therefore, it is difficult to track where russian gas actually ends up.
