Kalantyrsky is accused of helping Putin's friend Arkady Rotenberg to transfer funds in circumvention of Western sanctions.

The Swiss bank where the oligarch's assets are held reported the suspicious transactions to the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) in October 2022, after which they were blocked.

In numerous letters to SECO, Kalantirsky demanded that access to his funds and those of his company be restored, claiming that this had forced him to change his lifestyle.

However, his appeal to the Federal Administrative Court was dismissed, according to a ruling published on Tuesday.

Dmitry Kalantyrsky has been in the EU since 2014 after Western sanctions were imposed on his business partner Arkady Rotenberg. In the Czech Republic, he was prosecuted in 2023 for violating sanctions.

The amount of russian assets frozen in Switzerland at the end of March 2025 is about $8.3 billion, which is $1.8 billion more than a year ago.
