This was stated to Suspilne by one of the top diplomats of the European Union.

"This is a powerful package of measures to very quickly stop supplies and sanctions on russian liquefied gas. But there are still issues that we need to discuss. You know that there are still two member states in the European Union that import russian oil (Hungary and Slovakia — ed.). By doing so, they are financing russia's military campaign. And we could do more to tighten the noose around the russian economy and strangle the russian economy, which is in our interests," our interlocutor said.

He also expects the EU to impose sanctions on ports that allow russia's shadow fleet to enter to export oil.

‘We could do more to combat sanctions evasion. Because there are jumps in exports to third countries, and the goods probably end up somewhere else. I believe we need to be more active in checking whether we can target third-country ports if the shadow fleet is using them,’ the diplomat said.
