Large-scale searches were conducted in Vilnius at a company suspected of violating sanctions. Lithuanian customs seized a large quantity of goods, presumably subject to sanctions, as well as cash, weapons, ammunition and explosives. According to the investigation, the company organised illegal deliveries to Russia and Belarus via Central Asian countries, in particular Kyrgyzstan. The total value of the confiscated goods is estimated at around €1.5 million.
The director and owner of the company, as well as three employees, were detained and released on bail. According to the customs service, the company not only circumvented sanctions itself, but also helped other companies set up illegal export channels.
