EU court refuses to lift sanctions against family of Russian billionaire Gennady Timchenko

The European Union Court of Justice has dismissed the claims of Russian billionaire Gennady Timchenko and his wife Yelena to lift EU sanctions. The couple sought to have the obligation to report their assets under the EU's jurisdiction cancelled.

The European Court of Justice in Luxembourg ruled that the EU Council had the right to impose such an obligation on all persons on the sanctions list.
