The announcement was made on Monday in Brussels during the Second Ukraine-EU Defense Industry Forum by Charles Fries, Deputy Secretary-General of the European External Action Service. “Over the next two weeks, we will also spend an additional €900 million on the purchase of weapons and ammunition for Ukraine, all of which will be financed from the surplus profits from frozen Russian assets,” he said.

Fries recalled that just last Friday, EU High Representative Kaja Kallas announced that the EU would invest €1 billion in Ukraine's defense industry. "Contracts were signed last week in Lviv, and now the money will be invested in advanced technologies for Ukraine's defense industry, such as the production of drones and missiles. Thus, the EU has allocated a total of €3.3 billion to support Ukraine and its defense industry," the representative of the EU's foreign diplomatic service said.
