In Slovakia, lawmakers passed a resolution giving members of the government the right not to support new sanctions against Russia. The proposal was put forward by the junior pro-Russian party in the coalition. It was supported by 51 out of 76 lawmakers.

The publication recalled that although Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico came to power thanks to his criticism of sanctions against Russia and military aid to Ukraine, he ultimately supported all EU sanctions packages against Moscow that were adopted after his re-election in 2023.
