The Harju Court found Svetlana Burceva guilty of violating international sanctions and treason.

An Estonian court sentenced journalist Svetlana Burceva to six years in prison for her contribution to Russian online publications. According to a court representative, she worked for the media company RIA Russia Today, whose CEO Dmitry Kiselyov is under sanctions. Burceva violated international sanctions by providing resources for publications supporting Russian propaganda.

Burceva was also accused of establishing relations with Roman Romachov, a reserve officer of the FSB and head of the private intelligence company R-Techno, which promotes activities that undermine Estonia's sovereignty.

The court found all the evidence presented to be admissible and ruled that Burceva's guilt had been proven. In particular, the court emphasized her role in the publication of the book Hybrid War for Peace: Where Will the Battle of Kursk Take Place?, which was found to be propaganda and to spread disinformation.

The court noted that although Burceva acted intentionally, she had no previous convictions and the violation lasted only a few years. Therefore, the sentence was six years' imprisonment.

Burceva is required to pay compensation of €2,215. The decision can be appealed to the Tallinn District Court within 30 days.
