Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsakhkna said that Europe should confiscate frozen Russian assets worth 240 billion euros to avoid their use against European countries. According to him, freezing assets requires regular extension of sanctions, which can be blocked by Hungary. Tszakna stressed that the transfer of this money to Putin could pose a threat not only to Ukraine but also to Europe.
He also noted that there is a legal way to confiscate these assets, but it requires the support of Belgium, where most of them are kept. The minister added that it is important to ensure that even in the absence of a unanimous decision in the EU, these funds do not end up in Russia, the aggressor, and not with taxpayers in Europe.
