Switzerland freezes $8.38bn of Russian assets

As of March 2025, the value of Russian assets frozen in Switzerland totalled $8.38 billion. Over the year, this amount increased by $1.81 billion due to money laundering investigations and additional freezes.

Last year, criminal proceedings were opened on suspicion of violating sanctions and money laundering. As a result, CHF 1.65 billion was temporarily frozen. At the same time, 60 million francs (about $67 million) were unblocked due to non-compliance with legal requirements.
