Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Spain and the United Kingdom have expressed their readiness to strengthen sanctions against Russia, using all available tools to prevent it from waging war against Ukraine. The foreign ministers of the six countries and the head of European diplomacy, Kai Kallas, stressed that Russian assets in Western countries should remain frozen until the war is over and Ukraine is compensated for its losses.

The joint statement said that no peace agreement would be accepted that would restrict Ukraine's military and defence industry or the presence of partner countries in Ukraine. The ministers also called on Russia to stop its tactics of delaying the negotiations, stressing the need for a real end to Russian aggression, instead of continuing attacks on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure.
