France will use income from frozen Russian assets to maintain Caesar self-propelled artillery systems supplied to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said that the funds in question are interest earned on frozen Russian assets. They will be used to provide technical support for the Caesar self-propelled artillery systems through the Franco-German company KNDS, which already opened a subsidiary and a technical service centre in Ukraine in June 2024.
The aim of these actions is to increase pressure on Russia and put Ukraine in a stronger position to start peace talks.
