The European Commission has prepared a 17th package of sanctions against the aggressor state. It proposes tightening restrictions on Russia's ‘shadow oil fleet,’ specifically doubling the number of ships subject to sanctions.
Thus, it is proposed to add 60 individuals and legal entities and 150 ships to the sanctions list. As a result, the total list of sanctioned ships could grow to more than 300.
The final decision on whether to impose new restrictions or refrain from doing so will be taken by EU foreign ministers on 20 May in Brussels.
