An American company has expressed interest in purchasing assets from sanctioned Lukoil

American investment giant Carlyle is reportedly exploring options for purchasing Lukoil's foreign assets, three informed sources told the agency.

The company is still in the ‘early stages’ of this process. First, they want to apply for a US licence, which will allow them to start the process, and then begin the procedure of checking the objects of purchase. However, according to the source, the company may still change its mind.

Another source said that Carlyle has already informed Lukoil of its interest. Carlyle did not respond to a request for comment on this matter.
