Australia imposes sanctions on 14 Russians: what penalties will they face?

The Australian government has introduced sanctions against 14 Russians who may have been involved in the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. The penalties include financial restrictions and travel bans to Australia.
According to the statement, Australia is targeting individuals responsible for suppressing political expression in Russia as well as those who have contributed to Russia’s illegal and immoral invasion of Ukraine.
Russian media report that the sanctions list includes:

billionaire and close Putin ally Ilham Ragimov;

oligarch Andrei Kozitsyn, co-founder of the Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company;

Radik Shaimiev, son of the former president of Tatarstan;
-
Moscow Deputy Mayor Maksim Liksutov;
-
former First Deputy Governor of Russia’s Central Bank Ksenia Yudaeva;
-
Deputy Head of Russia’s Emergencies Ministry and former Moscow prosecutor Denis Popov;
-
former Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov;
-
Kremlin media manager Kristina Potupchik.
In addition, Foreign Minister Penny Wong announced plans to meet with Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of the slain Russian politician.
“Russia has not conducted an independent and transparent investigation into Mr. Navalny’s death, and Australia holds President Putin and the Russian government responsible,” the prime minister stressed.
