UK restricts russia's future plans for the liquefied natural gas sector.
The United Kingdom has imposed new sanctions on five ships and two shipping organizations under the sanctions regime against russia.
“The United Kingdom has imposed sanctions on five ships and two organizations involved in the russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector,” the statement said.
The following vessels were sanctioned:
Pioneer (IMO 9256602);
Asja Energy (IMO 9216298);
Nova Energy (IMO 9324277);
North Sky (IMO 9953523);
SCF LA PEROUSE (IMO 9849887).
“Today's measures build on the Allies' efforts to stifle russia's attempts to increase its future energy profits - a crucial source of funding for Putin's war in Ukraine,” British officials said.
The liquefied natural gas sector is an important source of funding for Putin's illegal war in Ukraine. Russia plans to increase its profits, aiming to increase its share of the global LNG market from 8% to 20%.
There are now 30 ships in the shadow fleet under sanctions.
