The UK has imposed the largest package of sanctions to date against russia's “shadow fleet”. 18 oil and 4 LNG tankers have been targeted.

“A further 18 shadow fleet vessels will be denied access to UK ports and will not be able to use leading British maritime services, bringing the total number of sanctioned oil tankers to 43,” the British government said in a statement.

In addition, London is imposing restrictions on four more liquefied natural gas tankers of the russian gas company JSC Rusgazdobycha.

It is noted that russia's “gray” tankers have transported oil worth about $4.9 billion over the past year. The largest shipping company Sovcomflot is forced to rename its vessels to protect them from Western sanctions.
