Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal reported on the results of his visit to Canada.
Among them are new sanctions imposed by Canada against Russian legal entities and individuals.
The sanctions include Volga-Dnepr, whose An-124 aircraft was blocked in Canada. The next step is to confiscate "Ruslan" and other assets and transfer them to Ukraine, Shmyhal said.
As reported by Av Web, the plane was flying from China and arrived in Toronto with a cargo of COVID-19 tests for the Canadian government. It was in the sky when Canada joined international sanctions against Russia, which attacked Ukraine, and therefore, when it landed at Pearson Airport on February 27, 2022, the plane was arrested.
BlogTo reports that the plane is subject to standard airport parking fees. Every day, Toronto Airport charges $1,065.60 for parking the Russian An-124. Thus, the forced one-year downtime in Toronto has already cost Volga-Dnipro more than $400,000.
We hope that Canada will apply a special legislative mechanism and confiscate these assets with the subsequent transfer of funds to Ukraine.
