Canada imposes sanctions against russia's ‘shadow fleet’

The sanctions cover 13 individuals and 11 organisations, including those involved in the development and deployment of the russian drone programme. Canada has also imposed sanctions for the first time on organisations that supply cyber infrastructure used in russian hybrid strategies against Ukraine.
Companies involved in liquefied natural gas have also been sanctioned. The restrictions also affect 100 vessels of russia's ‘shadow fleet’.
Since 2014, Canada has imposed sanctions on more than 3,300 individuals and entities involved in violating Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as systematic human rights violations.
Canada has taken action against russia's shadow fleet by imposing sanctions on more than 400 vessels for their involvement in transporting property and goods for the benefit of russia or persons in russia.
