European Union ambassadors have approved a new sanctions regime aimed at countering hybrid threats from russia. The new mechanism will come into force next week.
This was stated by Radio Liberty correspondent Rickard Jozwiak in his Twitter post.
“The new EU sanctions mechanism against russia's hybrid actions has been approved by the ambassadors of the EU member states,” he said.
Earlier, the journalist reported that the EU initially planned to introduce a general sanctions regime, but ultimately decided to focus on russian hybrid threats. So far, there are no specific names on the sanctions list, but they are planned to be added in the future.
