This opinion was expressed by Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna before the start of an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Copenhagen on 30 August, according to European Pravda.

Estonia believes that russia's frozen assets should be confiscated and transferred to Ukraine.

‘We must confiscate frozen russian assets and use this money for Ukraine. We are talking about more than €200 billion that Europe has, and there is no reason why we cannot take these funds and transfer them to Ukraine,’ Tsahkna insists.

He noted that enormous funds are needed to support Ukraine, and this support must continue for a long time.

‘There are no legal reasons why we cannot do this. There is only a political reason, and there is no consensus. Therefore, today we will discuss these possibilities, and Estonia is really pushing hard for a decision to confiscate frozen russian assets and start using them,’ the Estonian minister explained.

‘I understand the Belgian government very well, because they have more than 200 billion in frozen assets, and they cannot take risks alone if problems arise in the future. Therefore, we need to form a coalition and find mechanisms to remove the risks for Belgium,’ he continued.

Tsahkna added that ‘Belgium's concerns are entirely legitimate, but they are not related to legal reasons.’

‘It is much more a question of political will. And we, as partners in a coalition of the willing (whatever we call it), must find ways to support Belgium and develop measures to reduce the risks,’ he concluded.

‘russia is, of course, going crazy over this money. It needs it... The aggressor must pay,’ Margus Tsahkna is convinced.
