France, as a member state of the European Union, has joined the program to support Ukraine under the European Peace Fund.
“1.4 billion euros from the funds received from frozen russian assets will be used to purchase military equipment for Ukraine,” the French Ministry of Armed Forces said in a statement.
The Ministry notes that the European Commission has agreed with the French Directorate General for Armaments on the use of these funds. Thus, priority equipment for Ukraine is planned to be promptly purchased from French manufacturers. This includes ammunition, artillery, and air defense worth 300 million euros through 2024. Paris believes that this is an opportunity to continue building up the French industry and, at the same time, to support Ukraine as it fights the russian aggressor.
