Italian bank Intesa receives permission to sell russian assets

russia's president has signed a decree authorizing Italian bank Intesa Sanpaolo to sell or divest its assets in russia. 

The green light for Intesa could pave the way for other lenders still tied to russia to receive similar permits.

The decree, dated September 28, cited another decree signed by putin in August 2022, which gave him the right to issue special waivers for certain transactions involving energy and financial assets.
