Japanese Finance Minister Sunichi Suzuki insists that the use of frozen russian assets must comply with international law. This topic is likely to be discussed at a meeting of his colleagues from the G7 countries.

According to Suzuki, there is no consensus among the countries on what to do with the frozen russian assets.

"Japan's position is that this should be handled in a way that does not violate international law," he said, suggesting that Tokyo is cautious about the idea of direct confiscation of frozen russian assets put forward by Washington.

Suzuki is expected to travel to Washington next week to attend meetings of the G7 and G20 financial leaders, which will take place on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund's spring meeting.
