The Foreign Ministers of Lithuania and Latvia, Gabrielius Landsbergis and Baiba Brazhe, said that their countries are making efforts to unify sanctions against russia and Belarus.
The head of the Latvian Foreign Ministry noted that Latvia actively contributed to strengthening the sanctions package against Belarus.
“We are constantly working to ensure that sanctions apply to both countries. Latvia was the country that helped most in this process,” she said.
The minister reminded that in early July, new EU sanctions against Belarus came into force in response to support for russian aggression, which restrict the export of industrial and luxury goods, and ban the import of gold, diamonds, helium, coal and crude oil.
However, according to Brazhe, not all of Latvia and Lithuania's proposals were included in the sanctions package.
“It is necessary to continue cooperation with partners to include certain products and objects in the sanctions,” she emphasized.
