This was stated by Moldovan Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi, TVP reports.

According to him, the fund's owners had access to millions of dollars, which they wanted to use to finance protests, violence, and influence political parties.

Cryptocurrencies were not chosen by chance: they provide fast, unlimited payments that are difficult to track. Popșoi said that this is just one episode in a large-scale campaign of interference by Moscow.

At the same time, the minister noted that Moldova has become more resistant to such schemes than five or six years ago, but russian disinformation and schemes still influence the situation within the country.

In late November, Moldovan Parliament spokesman Igor Grosu said that russia had invested nearly €400 million in attempts to buy seats in parliament for its allies in the September elections.

Despite this, the pro-European Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), founded by President Maia Sandu, won the election. It won 50.16% of the vote.

In December, Moldovan police announced more than 50 new searches in connection with the case of preparations for mass unrest during the country's parliamentary elections, according to Moldovan media outlet NewsMaker.
