Canada and Poland support the confiscation of Russian funds for the reconstruction of Ukraine

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Chrystia Freeland, held a productive bilateral meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of Poland, Mariusz Błaszczak.

Deputy Prime Minister Freeland thanked Deputy Prime Minister Błaszczak for Poland’s leadership and significant military, financial, and humanitarian support for Ukraine, and the two reiterated their steadfast commitment to continue supporting the people of Ukraine until they are victorious.

The Deputy Prime Ministers also discussed how to continue holding Russia accountable for its illegal and barbaric invasion, including through further sanctions and using frozen Russian assets to pay for the rebuilding of Ukraine.
