This was announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during her speech in the European Parliament.

‘I welcome the European Council's commitment to meet Ukraine's financial needs for the next two years,’ said the President of the European Commission.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko later clarified that Ukraine had received €5.9 billion from the European Union:

€4.1 billion under the ERA Loans mechanism — the final tranche, in accordance with the €18 billion programme financed from the proceeds of frozen russian assets.

€1.8 billion was provided under the Ukraine Facility. This confirms that Ukraine is confidently moving forward with reforms and European integration, the Prime Minister noted.

‘These funds mean saved lives, restored infrastructure, and a strengthened economy. This means that we can direct more internal resources to the most important thing — defence,’ Svyrydenko wrote.
