The member states of the European Union introduced sanctions against four russian mass media. Now they are banned from broadcasting and publishing on the territory of the EU.

Sanctions were introduced against the following russian mass media:

- Voice of Europe;

- RIA Novosti;

- Izvestia;

- Rossiyskaya gazeta.

The European Commission noted that russia is engaged in continuous and concerted propaganda and information manipulation activities targeting civil society in the EU and neighboring countries, seriously distorting and manipulating facts.

"These propaganda actions were directed through a number of mass media, which are permanently or indirectly controlled by the leadership of the russian federation. Such actions constitute a significant and direct threat to public order and security of the EU," the European Commission added.
