The Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg has refused to lift sanctions against russian businessman and founder of the Uralchem group Dmitry Mazepin.
He repeatedly tried to appeal his inclusion in the EU sanctions list, namely the extension of sanctions against him in September 2022.
Dmytro Mazepin was added to the EU sanctions list on March 9, 2022. Shortly afterwards, he announced that he had sold a controlling stake in Uralchem and filed an appeal against the decision to impose restrictive measures against him. On November 8, 2023, the court rejected it.
However, the EU Court of Justice lifted the sanctions against the businessman's son, race car driver Nikita Mazepin, in its decision of March 20, 2024. Family ties to his father are not sufficient grounds to consider him to be bound by common interests, the Luxembourg court said at the time.
