On Thursday, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu explained that Ankara will only pursue its national interests in imposing sanctions against Russia.
The Turkish Foreign Minister emphasized that Ankara will enforce the sanctions imposed within the UN, but "if I comply with the sanctions that everyone imposes on someone, justifiably or unjustifiably, on my head, if I abandon my principled policy in favor of someone, I will risk the interests of my country."
At the same time, he emphasized that Turkey considers Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine as a war; complies with the provisions of the Montreux Convention on the regime of navigation in the Black Sea, and supports Ukraine's territorial integrity.
