The US state of Florida has arrested 44-year-old russian citizen Denis Postovoy for smuggling microelectronics to russia. He is also accused of money laundering and violating US restrictions.
According to investigators, starting at least since russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Postovoy has been purchasing and illegally exporting dual-use microelectronics from the United States to russia. These components can be used in the production of drones. The russian carried out the illegal exports through a network of his companies in russia, Hong Kong and other countries. The offender concealed data and lied about the final destination of the goods.
"According to the indictment, this defendant illegally exported dual-use technology to russia that could enhance its ability to wage unprovoked war against Ukraine," said prosecutor Matthew M. Graves in a statement.
