On 30 July, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law imposing sanctions against russia's ‘shadow fleet’.

This is evidenced by bill 13020 on the Verkhovna Rada website.

The document provides for the possibility of imposing sanctions on ships and aircraft involved in russian schemes for the shadow transport of oil, weapons or military personnel.

The document also amends the Law ‘On Sanctions.’ It allows restrictions to be imposed on vehicles whose activities pose real or potential threats to the national interests, security, territorial integrity, and sovereignty of Ukraine.

The Security Service of Ukraine and intelligence agencies will be empowered to identify and document such vessels. It is also provided that information on vehicles subject to sanctions will be entered into the State Register of Sanctions.
