David Beckham's company DB Ventures has registered David Beckham's trademark with Rospatent, russia's intellectual property regulator.
Beckham, a former Manchester United and Real Madrid star known for his outstanding football career, has now registered his brand in russia, despite the fact that the aggressor country is under sanctions for its invasion of Ukraine.
The application, filed back in June 2023, grants the brand the right to sell products that include textiles, curtains, kitchen towels, bedding, and even pet blankets - all bearing the name of the internationally recognized footballer.
This move comes as a surprise compared to Beckham's previous stance against russian aggression in Ukraine. In March 2022, he invited Iryna, a Kharkiv doctor with more than 70 million followers, to his Instagram page, where she showed how people are saved during the war.
Earlier, it was reported that russians are circumventing Western sanctions on luxury goods by engaging personal buyers, resellers, and smuggling networks to maintain access to high-quality European fashion.
Despite the sanctions, designer handbags, high fashion items, and luxury suits continue to enter the country through the shadow supply chain.
According to customs data, the goods are rerouted through countries such as the United Arab Emirates and China.
