Callas is not sure that the EU will agree on confiscation of russian assets in March

“To do this, we need everyone's support. And so far we don't have that support. I am not very optimistic that we will reach an agreement in March. But at the same time, I must say that the work is ongoing. And I also have to say that during this Foreign Affairs Council, another country that was previously against moving forward has joined the process,” Kallas said.
The EU diplomat believes that in the end, the bloc countries will come to the conclusion that russia, which started the war in Ukraine, should pay for it.
“This is what I have always said, you know, in the end, especially in the situation we are in now, we will all come to the conclusion in the end that our taxpayers should not be the ones who pay for this. This should be done by the country that is destroying Ukraine, that is, russia," Callas said.
Sources say that France, Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg, among others, were against the confiscation of russian assets.
