On Tuesday, 19 November, the Government of Liechtenstein harmonised sanctions measures against Belarus with similar restrictions on russia.

By its decision, the Liechtenstein authorities amended the resolution on sanctions against Belarus, imposed in support of russia's full-scale aggression, and joined the EU decision of 29 June 2024.

‘With this decision, the EU has harmonised financial, commodity and trade sanctions against Belarus with the level of sanctions against russia in various areas. The measures are aimed, in particular, at preventing the circumvention of EU sanctions against russia through Belarus,’ the statement said.

The new restrictions imposed on Belarus by Liechtenstein include a ban on exports of dual-use goods and technologies, a ban on imports of gold, diamonds, helium, coal and crude oil, as well as further measures to counter sanctions evasion.
