Lithuania searched for supplying cars to russia in violation of sanctions

Lithuania has conducted massive searches in connection with the supply of vehicles to russia and Belarus in violation of sanctions.
According to the company, the searches were conducted in the offices of a company engaged in cargo transportation and sales of vehicles in Vilnius and its environs.
Two Belarusian and two Lithuanian citizens were detained on suspicion of violating international sanctions. The court arrested one Belarusian for one month and the other for two months. No preventive measures have been imposed on the Lithuanians.
According to the investigation, in 2024, a total of 30 vehicles were delivered to russia and Belarus in circumvention of sanctions: tractors and semi-trailers, as well as luxury cars BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and others. Their total estimated value, according to preliminary data, may be almost 2 million euros.
The cars remained registered in Lithuania and at the same time were registered in russia or Belarus as new vehicles.
During the investigation, customs officers seized 17 tractors and 15 semi-trailers worth about 1.5 million euros, as well as a minibus containing four thousand packs of smuggled cigarettes from Belarus.
