The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine has filed a second lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court against russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska, a close associate of putin, and the international company United Company RUSAL, seeking to impose a sanction in the form of a forfeiture of the assets of the said sanctioned persons to the state.

Deripaska-controlled UC RUSAL supplied aluminum products to russian defense companies. These companies directly produce military equipment, weapons and ammunition for the russian armed forces.

In addition, the HACC found that Deripaska owns the russian Machines industrial conglomerate, which includes the Military Industrial Company, a major supplier of weapons and equipment to the russian military. In particular, the conglomerate's companies produce BTR-80, BTR-82A, AMN 233114 Tiger-M armored personnel carriers and other combat vehicles ordered by the russian Ministry of defense.

The above facts were established by the HACCU decision of February 2023 and the decision of the HACCU Appeals Chamber of June 2023 in case 991/265/23.

In the lawsuit filed, the Ministry of Justice seeks to recover more than 440 thousand tons of bauxite and 110 thousand tons of alumina with a total value of more than UAH 2 billion. The Ministry of Justice was notified of the discovery of these assets by the Security Service of Ukraine.

For reference: bauxite is a sedimentary rock that is processed into alumina (aluminum oxide). Aluminum alloys are widely used in the production of missiles, military aircraft, armored vehicles and ammunition.
