Orban said that Hungary is allegedly not dependent on Ukrainian gas transit, as it has been importing russian gas bypassing the Turkish Stream for several years. This, he said, allows it to help Slovakia now.
However, he complained that Ukraine's actions allegedly provoked a rise in gasoline prices in Hungary. According to Orban, EU sanctions against russia cost Hungary 19 billion euros.
“I put on the handbrake and asked European leaders to understand that this cannot continue,” the Hungarian prime minister said.
Orban said that Ukraine should resume the transit of russian gas and guarantee that it will not stop oil transit.
“If you want help, then reopen the gas route,” he said.
The Hungarian prime minister criticized the European Union for allegedly supporting Ukraine more than the Central European countries that are members of the EU.
