According to the case file, in the period from 2019 to 2021, without indicating in the customs declarations the actual country of final destination of the goods, Mr. Pavilonis exported 406 firearms, 16 firearm parts and more than 500,000 rounds of ammunition from the European Union to the Kyrgyz Republic, knowing that they would be transferred to the final recipients, i.e. companies and individuals in the russian federation.
The court fined the resident of Vilnius district 20,000 euros and the company he ran 50,000 euros.
This is one of the first court verdicts in which a person and the company he headed were found guilty of violating international sanctions and restrictive measures established by the legislation of the Republic of Lithuania by transporting firearms and ammunition to/from the russian federation, the prosecutor's office said.
According to the case file, the then director and shareholder of the company, acting in the interests of the company, knowing about the ban on the import, export and transportation of firearms, their parts and ammunition through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania in transit from/from the russian federation, in 2019-2021 imported and exported firearms, their parts and ammunition to the Kyrgyz Republic through the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to the investigation, in order to obtain permits for the import/export of weapons, their parts and ammunition, Mr. Pavilonis submitted documents to the Licensing Division of the Lithuanian Police Department that deliberately did not contain data identifying the weapons and indicating the country of purchase.
