The U.S. Treasury Department has announced a new package of sanctions against russia as part of the G7 agreements, which include restrictions against Gazprombank and dozens of other banks and financial institutions.

“Today, OFAC took another important step in the commitment made by G7 leaders to restrict russia's use of the international financial system to continue its war against Ukraine,” the US agency said.

OFAC's measures include sanctions against Gazprombank, more than 50 international russian banks, more than 40 Russian securities registrars, and 15 Russian financial officials.

It is specified that restrictions have been imposed, among other things, against six foreign subsidiaries of Gazprombank.

“Today's sanctions, targeting russia's largest bank, which remained unincluded (in the list of restrictions - ed.), as well as dozens of other financial institutions and officials in russia, will reduce and degrade the capabilities of the russian war machine,” US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said in this regard.

She emphasized that these “sweeping actions” will complicate the Kremlin's attempts to evade the previously imposed restrictions in order to finance and arm its army.
