The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine has won an important victory in the fight against russian propaganda by securing the application of sanctions against Volodymyr Sergienko, a well-known pro-russian political analyst and former assistant to the Bundestag member of the Alternative for Germany party. Thanks to the efforts of the Ministry of Justice, on February 28, 2025, the court imposed a sanction under paragraph 1-1 of part 1 of Article 4 of the Law of Ukraine “On Sanctions” on Sergienko, who systematically uses media platforms such as the talk show “Evening with Vladimir Solovyov”, “Time Will Tell” on Channel One, Vesti FM radio and his Telegram channel to spread Russian propaganda, disinformation and manipulations that threaten the national security of Ukraine.
The sanction provides for the confiscation of Sergienko's assets, including a 1/2 share of an apartment in Lviv and a 50% share in the authorized capital of Health Care Ukraine LLC. This decision became possible due to the position of the Ministry of Justice in counteracting those who support russia's aggressive policy and harm Ukraine's national interests.
The decision has not yet entered into force, and the term for appeal is ongoing.
