Turkey maintains a constructive position on countering russia's sanctions circumvention and cooperates with Ukraine and Western partners in this regard

“That is, the stories related to the circumvention of sanctions are probably not those that can be resolved once and for all at the level of the Turkish authorities. The process is ongoing. I can say that we have quite effective cooperation in this regard. All cases arising from the circumvention of sanctions and related to Turkish companies are the subject of official communications,” Bodnar said.

The diplomat noted that a special working group had been set up to visit Turkey to discuss these issues.

“We met a very constructive position and a desire to solve problems rather than counteract the consequences,” Bodnar said.

The ambassador said that there is a great influence of Western companies that try to use Turkish territory for transit to russia or, for example, Central Asia. “To counteract this, we need to work with the US and the EU as the biggest players who have imposed sanctions on russia,” Bodnar said.

According to the ambassador, Turkey is not dominant in assisting russia in circumventing sanctions. “Of course, some Turkish companies are suspected of cooperating with russia, of helping to supply certain spare parts, equipment, and products. They are also subject to Western sanctions. It is important for us that we defend our interests in relations with Turkey to the maximum extent possible so that trust, mutually beneficial cooperation and prospects for the future are not lost,” Bodnar said.

Among such promising areas for deepening cooperation, the ambassador named the reconstruction of Ukraine, taking advantage of the Free Trade Agreement, developing capabilities in the defense industry, and implementing joint projects.
