G7 countries agree to link future sanctions against russia to the progress of peace talks

The G7 foreign ministers agreed to continue working together to achieve a lasting peace agreement for Ukraine with reliable security guarantees. They also agreed that future sanctions against russia should be linked to moscow's participation in the negotiation process to end the war.
"Any new, additional sanctions after February should be linked to whether the russian federation makes real, good faith efforts to end the war against Ukraine, which will ensure Ukraine's long-term security and stability as a sovereign, independent country," the G7 foreign ministers said in a joint statement.
The agency emphasized that this statement was supported by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
It is noted that the representatives of the G7 countries expressed their readiness to work together to achieve a lasting peace. They also agreed that Ukraine needs to be given reliable security guarantees so that the war does not start again.
