A court in the Hungarian city of Szeged has imposed a fine of one million forints almost $2,560 on a 44-year-old businessman for violating sanctions against russia.

The case relates to the events of October 2022, when the convict worked as the head of a company in the city of Szandorfalva and requested permission to import 35 million forints worth of car parts from russia.

However, in order to conceal the origin of the goods, the man registered a company in Belarus, which violated the EU sanctions regime against russia.

The spare parts were seized at customs, and a case was opened against the man. He pleaded guilty and agreed to the punishment proposed by the prosecutor's office.

In addition to the million forint fine, the Szeged court also ordered the confiscation of the batch of car parts.

As you know, the Hungarian authorities have consistently opposed further sanctions against russia, arguing that they do not weaken the russian economy and instead only harm the EU.
