Japan has allocated Ukraine $3 billion from the frozen assets of the russian federation

On Saturday, November 16, Japan allocated $3 billion to Ukraine as part of a $50 billion G7 loan initiative to be repaid from proceeds of frozen Russian assets.

 

In particular, today the Ukrainian President met with the new Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya. Zelenskyy emphasized that it was important that the first visit of a Japanese diplomat to another country immediately after the appointment of the new government was to Ukraine.

 

“Thank you for your consistent support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for the significant financial and humanitarian assistance from Japan, in particular for the transfer of a new package of assistance to our energy sector,” Zelenskyy wrote.

 

He also informed and thanked Japan for allocating $3 billion as part of the G7 decision on a $50 billion loan.

 

As you know, Ukraine's Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and the Japanese Foreign Minister signed an agreement to strengthen cooperation in the field of information security. According to Shmyhal, Japan is among the leaders in supporting Ukraine, and the total amount of assistance has reached $12.1 billion.

 

As a reminder, Japan and Ukraine agreed to strengthen their security dialogue amid the deployment of North Korean troops in Russia.

 

The United States has also recently decided to allocate $20 billion to Ukraine. The money will be provided as part of a G7 loan from the proceeds of frozen Russian assets.
