The European Union wants to enlist India's support in strengthening sanctions against the russian federation.
Thus, during her visit to New Delhi, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will ask Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for help:
"The EU is committed to strengthening sanctions against russia. russia's war in Ukraine threatens India as much as it threatens Europe, and it can play an important role in ending the war and ensuring a lasting peace.”
During the two-day visit, Von der Leyen and other officials will discuss the trade corridor across the Arabian Peninsula connecting India to Europe, expanding market access and India's high tariffs on a number of goods. No major announcements are expected as the two sides try to lay the groundwork for setting the agenda for the India-EU summit scheduled for later in the year.
