russia transferred a number of large financial tranches to Turkey shortly after the start of the full-scale military invasion of Ukraine, which attracted the attention of American financial regulators. In particular, in 2022, more than $5 billion was transferred through banks in the United States.

The Akkuyu nuclear power plant project, supported by russian dictator Volodymyr Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, became a channel for financial transactions that aroused suspicion in the United States.

U.S. investigators have found that these funds could be used to finance government initiatives in russia to circumvent international sanctions.

Reportedly, two of the largest American banks - JPMorgan Chase and Citigroup - were involved in processing the above transactions. According to the US Department of Justice investigators, russia and Turkey agreed to use Gazprombank, which was not under sanctions at the time, to finance a $9 billion nuclear power plant construction project.

In fact, this money came from the Central Bank of russia, and the kremlin tried to hide its real origin in every possible way.
